McCormick's Collector Car Auction: Desert Deja View

Palm Spring CA, Feb 21 2015 - McCormick’s Collector Car Auction is possibly Palm Springs most interesting characteristic. The twice a winter event happens regardless of the weather, but in many years we’ve never had a bad day. For the tourist, this is an outdoor classic car museum. For the locals, this is a great car show for $25 all weekend admission. For collector car sellers, the low 5% house commission rake is worth it. For the car buyer, there is one of everything and you can get up close and personal with the cars of your dreams.

1957 Packard Clipper Wagon

The McCormick family and team have developed a cult following of people and license plates from across the continent. With over 500 cars to move in three days, the auction runs down to the minute, but the auctioneers aren’t afraid to give extra time and life support to a car that deserves a better price for the seller. Though McCormick’s typically sell 85% of the cars listed,  sometimes - even with a packed room, a certain car may stall in bidding and provide a tremendous deal for the right person.

If you were in the market for an 80s Mercedes SL, you had your choice of year and color. With so many to choose from, it’s easy to find your range for a classy car starting at $1,900.

1960 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster

Given 500+ choices it’s hard to pick a favorite automobile, but we were rather sad we didn’t quite have a spare $68,000 for an extremely low mileage survivor car - black 1960 Corvette Roadster. You can’t restore a car for that money – why not just buy like new?

We’re gonna get a bidder’s paddle next time. Enough of this standing around watching the world go by… Auction results here.

Next auction Nov 20-22 2015.
