Los Angeles CA, Nov 20 2019 - The LA Auto Show is up for 2019! Press Day opened to the sound and splash of rain - first wet to come along in many months. The skies may have cooled and greyed, but a large dose of warmth and colour awaited inside the LA Convention Center.

Being in LA - a car-heavy culture of four-wheel know-it-alls, the show has a high bar of expectations to exceed each year. Looking around the show floors, it is interesting to see the choices the automakers make with their booths and car displays - see who is blazing and who is boring. We couldn't tell you who is in their right minds or getting the best bang for their big bucks, but we do know what looks good to us.
Some auto companies like Lincoln and Infiniti fielded mostly non-color cars. Whites, blacks and greys were oddly prevalent in some corners; through the viewfinder of a camera, we don't see the reflections, lines and angles of an automobile as well without color.

We have to admit we are not photographically attracted to shades that don't jump into our eyeballs. Our loyalty is to pretty pictures, so you may notice a trend toward colour in our album of the show. Sorry if we skipped all the blah.
2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E officially revealed
We thought overall the maker displays were bolder than ever. We would vote for Subaru and Ford as Best of Show in the design department - companies who put great effort into themes and visual appeal.
Amongst a lot of competition, one of our favorite new car is the Lexus LC Convertible. Our favorite concept car is the LF-30, though we would prefer to concepters to follow more practical forms - not cute look-at-me features never to be sold on a real car. Wheel wrapping fender wells? That's just not going to work on any road with potholes, water, mud, snow or obstructions.
There is so much to see and do at the show - you will need more than one day to really take it all in. A great feature of the show is the focus on drect interaction with the product and the message.
Numerous VR motion experiences and racing simulators draw long lines of attendees anxious to try something new.
Some of the makers keep spending money to entertain the press corp after-hours. Bret Michaels rocking out the NOVO on behalf of Hyundai seemed like unbounded generosity to the hungry and thirsty benefactors.
LA Auto Show runs to the public Nov 22 to Dec 1. We believe you will like what you see.
